Weldon
Wiggins
February 28, 1937 – July 2, 2019
Weldon Riley Wiggins, 82, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019, with his family by his side in Burleson, Texas. Weldon was born February 28, 1937 to William Riley and Pauline Wiggins in Fort Worth, Texas. He was the beloved husband to the late Zara Wiggins; loving father of Garry Wiggins, Donna (Stan) Buck, Belinda (Mario) Munoz, and Steve (Tammy) Wiggins; dear grandfather of Kimberly Wiggins, Zaralinda (Justin) Stanfield, Afton Avila, Christopher Buck, Mario (Coral) Munoz, Jr., Melissa (Ryan) O'Hara, and Katrina Buck; great grandfather to Mario Munoz, III; brother of Bart (Simone) Wiggins, Jean (Don) Howard, and Barbara Reid; and beloved uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Weldon was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Zara Wiggins, parents William R. Wiggins and Pauline Miller, step-mother Grace Culpepper, sister Diane Willis, and grandsons Garry Wiggins, Jr. and Adam J. Wiggins.
Weldon was a proud veteran of the United States Army, bravely serving his country with distinction in both the Korean and Vietnam War s; retiring after 20 years of exemplary service. Weldon received numerous decorations for his service including the Purple Heart, Air Medal, and U.S. Army Commendation Medal for Sustained Acts of Heroism.
Following military retirement, Weldon pursued his entrepreneurial spirit and went on to own and operate several businesses. With an interest in training and breeding quarter horses, he also dedicated many years as a specialized farrier in the Georgetown and Austin, Texas region. For the past 15 years, he served as Owner and President of Seawinns Security, Inc. in Fort Worth, Texas.
Weldon enjoyed collecting firearms and was a skilled expert shooter. As a young serviceman, he was a decorated member of the Army Marksmanship Unit while serving in Europe.
He was as tough as they come, stubborn as a mule, and stronger than most only hope to be. He was also a caring, loving, and devoted family man. We are beyond grateful to have had such a wonderful man as our father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. We are going to miss him more than words can say. We will carry him in our hearts, always.
