Burson
June 1, 1935 – February 19, 2023
Richard Marvin Burson, aka Papa Dick, peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at the age of 87 surrounded by family and friends. He was born on June 1, 1935, to parents Joseph Floyd Burson and Myrtle Hausenfluck Burson. On April 9, 1971 he married the love of his life, Janie Louise Robbins, for 50 wonderful years. He was preceded in death by his wife Janie, father Joseph Burson, mother Myrtle Burson, brother Jack Burson and infant sister Laura Elizabeth Burson and special grandson Justin Barker. He is survived by his brother David Burson and wife Toy Burson of Georgetown and his special sons, Darren Barker and wife Melonie of Georgetown, Larry Barker, and wife Valerie of Richland Springs, special Grandchildren James Barker, Jennifer Heiner and husband Wade, John Barker, Bradley Barker and wife Gabriella Barker and Brandon Barker and special great grandchildren Paige Heiner, Avery Heiner, Sofia Barker, Serena Barker, Everly Barker and Keira Barker and numerous nieces and nephews.
As a young man he loved going to jackpot roping and rodeos. He was a loving husband and a father like figure to many and was known as Papa Dick to all the children. He was a volunteer Fireman at Jarrell Fire Dept. He worked for Centex Propane and Georgetown Feed & Mill (Threeway Feeds) until he became a full time, Rancher. He loved to ride his horses then he took to riding 4-wheelers, which were his legs, after he started having knee problems. He was a hard worker. He would get up at sunrise and not end his day till sundown every single day. He wore blue jean coveralls all his life. He was a simple man but had a huge heart! He cherished every moment with his family and friends, letting nothing stand in his way. We would like to express our gratitude for ALL the wonderful caregivers who took such great care of him.
