Obituary

Michelle Beth Gattey, age 44, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on September 16, 2021, from COVID-19. Ms. Gattey was a police officer with the Georgetown Police Department.

Michelle, the daughter of Jody (Rhoades) and Richard Gattey, was a native of Newark, California. She graduated from New Covenant Academy in Springfield, Missouri in 1995 and began her career in the Air Force as a firefighter.

Ms. Gattey's Air Force career spanned 23 years, and she retired in 2019 at the rank of Master Sergeant. The majority of her Air Force career was with the Presidential Airlift Group, where she served as a flight attendant on Air Force One and Air Force Two during the George W. Bush and Barack Obama administrations. She also served with the Pacific Fleet Commander and did a combat tour in Afghanistan.

Michelle had a radiant smile and warm personality. She was a fitness nut, dog lover, and was totally dedicated to her "fur babies" Harley, Zander, and Granger. Her hard work and dedication to our country and community inspired all who knew her.

Michelle is preceded in death by her father, Richard Gattey and her sister, Traci Morgan. She is survived by her mother, Jody Gattey; sister, Kimberly Gattey; brothers, Ben (Karla) and Jeffrey (Dawnwyn) Gattey; brother-in-law, Ed Morgan; nieces and nephews: Brittany Thompson, Lucas Morgan, Bethany Morgan, Spencer Gattey, Jonah Gattey, and Isabelle Gattey; close friends, Paul and Kathryn Hansen, Sarah Phillips, Dennis Morris, Dawn Hallows, and James Claypool.

A memorial service for Officer Michelle Gattey will be held at the First Baptist Church in Georgetown Texas at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 25th. Her inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, at a date and time to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local pet adoption agency or the Humane Society in honor of Michelle Beth Gattey.
