Obituary

Maria Joy Mirabella Sheffield of Georgetown, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 1, 2022, in her home, just shy of her 57th birthday.

Maria was raised in the Mirabella family home in Mt. Vernon, New York, after being born in New Rochelle, New York, on March 27, 1965. Although she and her family lived in Florida during her childhood, only Texas could hold a heart as big as Maria's.

Maria's love of music was evident from an early age, with her earning a state title for her talents on the bass clarinet. If she was not marching in the Georgetown High School Band, you could find her dancing to George Michael and crooning to Elton John. She expanded her musical repertoire to include 50Cent and Nelly in more recent years.

Upon earning her Bachelor's degree in History from St. Edward's University, Maria achieved her dream of working with children in various roles with Georgetown ISD for more than ten years before working for Williamson County.

Maria's sense of humor and witty timing met their match when she met her husband, Edgar Sheffield, in 2011. No matter where their ten years of marriage took them, humor and love bonded them together.

Over the years, Maria created lasting friendships with just about everyone she encountered. A connoisseur of conversation, Maria truly enjoyed people. However, of all that Maria held dear, her family was her priority. Her children were the light of her life, and her grandchildren the apple of her eye. Maria would move heaven and earth for her family.

Maria is survived by her husband, Edgar; father, George Mirabella; siblings, Michele (Donald) Klepac and Michael (Sally) Mirabella; children, Jamie (Charles) Heeneman and Joe (Suzy) Mirabella; step-children, Marsha (Paul) Hove and David (Meredith) Sheffield; grandchildren, Luke, Grey, Tucker, Asher, and Lucy; step-grandchildren, Madison, Karsen, Larkin, Allison, Paisley, and Benjamin; nieces and nephews, Ashley (Chad) Smith, Matt (Jessica) Klepac, Amanda (Jordan Svoboda) Mirabella, and Michael Mirabella; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Cooper, Cambelle, and Barrett. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucia Mirabella.
