Joel
Holcomb
Jan 21, 1968 — May 28, 2022
Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
Matthew 22:37-39
On Saturday, May 28, 2022, Joel Allen Holcomb passed away at the age of 54 in a tragic accident. Joel was completing repairs on the family home in Georgetown, Texas, when the incident occurred.
Joel was born on January 21, 1968, in Denver, Colorado to Allen Floyd Holcomb and Donna Jean Holcomb. Following his graduation as the valedictorian of Strasburg High School, he attended Hastings College in Nebraska on a full-ride basketball scholarship. He transferred to the University of Colorado Boulder, where he received two bachelor's degrees in Kinesiology and Psychology. He then attended the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where he received his master's degree in Kinesiology and served as the head athletic trainer of the UNLV baseball team.
On May 23, 1992, he married the love of his life, Jacquelyn Marie Holcomb. Together they raised two children, Mitchell Ray Holcomb and Payton Grace Holcomb. He is survived by his immediate family, his mother and father, his sister and her husband, their two children, his mother-in-law, and his sister-in-law.
While difficult to describe in its entirety, Joel's impact as a servant leader was - and continues to be - staggering. As an athletic trainer for Georgetown High School, he treated the bodies and hearts of young athletes. As an independent distributor for Advocare and Zurvita, he empowered and mentored others through health and financial freedom. Perhaps his crowning achievement, however, was his work as the president of the non-profit HRS True Hope. Guided by what can only be described as a breathtaking love of the Lord, he led efforts that resulted in the continued annual service of thousands around the world.
A celebration of life will take place on at the Sheraton Austin Georgetown Hotel and Conference Center at 2 P.M. on July the 2nd. To be followed by a reception at Hill Country Bible Church Georgetown at 3:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, please direct all donations in memoriam to HRS True Hope ( hrstruehope.org/donate ) so that his legacy of service may continue.
