Obituary

Joe A. Munoz, Jr., a native of Georgetown, Texas passed away on July 19, 2020 at the age of 71. He was a Veteran of the Army and the National Guard and beloved Dad and Popo to two daughters and five grandchildren.
Joe was born on July 1, 1949 to parents Joe A. Munoz, Sr. and Andrea (Coronado) Munoz. He was born in Georgetown, Texas and kept his heart in his hometown all his days. Joe married the love of his life Ellen Pearson on November 18, 1972.
After high school, Joe joined the Army in 1969, and later joined the National Guard retiring in 1998 after 29 years of service to our country. He served in Viet Nam and Operation Joint Endeavor receiving numerous military awards and honors along the way. Joe was also employed by the United States Army Corp of Engineers as a contractor in Fort Hood, Texas retiring after 33 years.
Left to cherish Joe's memory are the following: daughter, Jennifer Munoz Soto and her husband, Rudy Soto of Georgetown along with their children: Sierrah, Brendan, Landon and Arabella Soto; daughter, Kristal Munoz Pompa and her husband, Michael Pompa of Georgetown along with their son, Gabriel Pompa; sisters: Eloise Maldonado, Mary Helen Nevarez, Marianne Contreras; brothers:  Ben, Gilbert, Chris, and Michael Munoz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife Ellen Munoz; parents, Joe A. Sr. and Andrea Munoz; brother, Randy Munoz; and sister, Sylvia Munoz.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Doctors and Nurses at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center- Round Rock. A special thanks to Dr. Raycho Kurkchijski and Dr. Kristine Dematta.
A time of visitation will be held on Monday, July 27, 2020 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.  A private funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 in the Chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX 78633. 512-869-7775.
