Jerome David
Schaffer
October 14, 1932 – April 20, 2026
Jerry (Jerome) David Schaffer, 93, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on April 20, 2026.
Jerry was born on October 14, 1932, in Kansas City, Missouri. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Missouri and went on to serve in the United States Air Force as a First Lieutenant, an experience that helped shape his discipline and outlook on life.
He began his career as a salesman selling luggage throughout the Midwest and then a Manufacturer's Representative for various consumer and electronic products. He later went on to found National Buyers Federation in Chicago, a car buying service, where he built a successful business and lasting professional legacy.
Jerry was a man defined by his outlook on life. He was positive, determined, and deeply caring—a combination that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He lived by a simple but powerful philosophy: “Have a positive mental attitude.” It was advice he shared often and lived by every day.
A lifelong athlete and sports enthusiast, Jerry had a special love for baseball, which he continued playing into his 80’s. He also enjoyed tennis and remained active on the court, well into his late 80s, a testament to both his physical energy and enduring competitive spirit. One of his biggest passions — outside of playing sports and family — was his love for the Chicago Cubs.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Schaffer; their son, Michael Schaffer. And three children from a prior marriage; Marci Grossman and her children Alexis and Brett Grossman; Steve Schaffer and his children Ethan, Max, and Zoe Schaffer; and Howard Schaffer, (wife Beth Schaffer) and their children Emily and Evan Schaffer.
Jerry was proud of his Jewish faith and carried its values with him throughout his life.
He will be remembered for his optimism, strength of character, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he built.
Funeral and memorial will be at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen Texas on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Noon.
