Jan A. Bates (Radcliff) died following complications of her battle with congested hart failure at Round Rock Medical Center on December 3, 2021.
Jan is survived by her husband, Ray Bates of Liberty Hill, Texas; sister, LeeAnn Ryan of Peachtree City, Georgia; and son, Evan Dalton of Jonestown, Texas; grandchildren: Evan Dalton Jr. and Wyatt Dalton; nieces and nephews: John Nelson, Robin Nelson, Blake Ryan, and Kathleen Ryan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Kitty Radcliff, formerly of Panama City, Florida; and sisters: Kim Smith formerly of OK, and Gail Nelson formerly of Austin, Texas.
Jan was born on April 15, 1953, at U.S. Air Force Hospital Washing, DC to Owen and Kitty Radcliff. She and her family lived in many locations while growing up including: Tulsa, Oklahoma; Heidelberg, Germany; Sherman, Texas; Panama City, Florida; Taipei, Taiwan; Fort Walton Beach, Florida; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Northern Virginia; Austin, Texas; and Bastrop, Texas. Jan a ttended and graduated from Niceville Senior High School in '71 and then went on to get her CNA licenses. She worked in-home health care for many years.
After over a six year courtship, Jan married Ray Bates in January 2001 and the two moved to Liberty Hill, Texas. While living in Liberty Hill, she continued to pursue her passion in helping others and put her CNA to good use for clients in the area. She loved to garden, cook, and work in her yard. Often she would visit her grandkids and take them for the day to the zoo or to the park. She loved the beach and would go at every opportunity.
She always had pets! Three Miniature Schnauzers for the house, a Healer for the yard, a bird, bearded dragons, lizards, frogs, and just bout anything that would make a good pet. She even had a pond in the yard with Koy fish.
A celebration of Jan's life will be held at Rocky Creek Cemetery, Johnson City Texas (Blanco County) with the date and time to be determined.
