James Homer "Jim" Seals, 91, of Georgetown, Texas passed away on April 14, 2026 due to a short illness from pneumonia following failure to recover from a fall in October, 2025.
He was born to Denver and Louise Roberts Seals in Miami, Oklahoma. His grandfather, Homer Seals, was an owner of several lead and zinc mines in the area, and established with other partners the Security Bank and Trust Company of Miami where his father, Denver, was later vice president for many years.

Following that, he briefly worked for Monsanto Chemical Company in St. Louis, Missouri. He then was transferred to the new Chocolate Bayou Monsanto Plant on Galveston Bay near Alvin, Texas. There, for forty years, he was involved with making the food additive, Sorbic Acid and NTA, a softener for laundry detergents, as well as various other chemicals.
After the Chocolate Bayou Plant evolved into Solutia Chemicals, he was elected to the Fellows Program for Solutia and retired in 2000 as a Distinguished Fellow.
Surviving Mr. Seals are his wife of 64 years, Margaret Fletcher Seals of Muskogee, Oklahoma; his son, David F. Seals; two grandsons, James R. Seals and David Tyler Seals; and seven great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date at Grace Episcopal Church in Georgetown.
