Obituary

Allie "Frances" Bratton, age 86, of Volente, Texas passed away on April 28, 2019. Frances was born on February 3, 1933 in Kilgore, Texas to Willie Mae and Raymond Luke Garner.  Frances had the privilege of growing up in several Texas towns, but lived most of her life in Volente, Texas.  She and her late husband, John Bratton, moved to Volente in 1969. Frances and John were married on April 15, 1967.  John preceded Frances in death on January 30, 2005.

She was a long-time member of First Lakeview Church of Volente, where she was very active serving as a board member for many years, as well as making the flower arrangements for the church.  This brought her great joy.  Frances could always be found in the church kitchen helping to decorate and coordinate food for church events, helping with vacation bible school, and giving people rides to church.  Frances was also a long-time member of the Anderson Mill Garden Club, as well as one of the original members of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Volente Fire Department.

Frances loved family, which was a good thing, as God blessed her with a very large one.  She is survived by two sons: Leonard "Skip" Lankford and his wife Jean of Georgetown, TX, and Chris Bratton and his wife Cheryl of Round Rock, TX.

Frances had three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Alvin Lankford and his wife Lorie and their two children, Shelby and Emily; Jennifer Blakeney and her husband Stephen, and their three children, Aspen, Kelsey, and Megan; and Brandi Nault and her husband Alex, and their two children, Reid and Harper.

She is also survived by two brothers: Pete Garner and Lester Garner both of Liberty Hill, TX.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Mae and Raymond Luke Garner; husband, John Bratton; sisters: Barbara Geaccone, Betty Senkel, Millie Holm, and Mary Johnson; and her brother, Ray Garner Jr.

One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  They would spend summer vacations and holidays with her at the lake.  It brought her great joy taking them with her to vacation bible school, cooking for them and making them homemade ice cream. Most of all spending time with them, spoiling them and sending them back home to their parents.

Frances was one of the most caring people that you could ever meet.  Stray animals would make their way to the Bratton house as they knew inside, they would find shelter and food from a Godly woman. Even on her death bed, she expressed concern for others, as well as her animals.

Frances owned her own beauty shop in the area for many years, then eventually got into the business of buying and selling antiques and collectibles.  John and Frances loved to go bowling and square dancing.  She made wedding cakes and decorated for the weddings of many friends and family members over the years.  She had a passion and the true ability to make or build anything.  She could see something once and create it.  Frances loved tending to her garden and flowers. Truly a God given talented woman.

Many that knew Frances would say she would give the shirt off her back to help someone in need – and that is the truth!!!  She would go out of her way to help anyone at any hour day or night. When God made Frances, he did indeed throw away the mold.

Frances was there each time a new family member was brought into this world. They were all with her when she left this world to go home to her heavenly Father.

We love you and are forever grateful for everything you have done for us and taught us over the years!!!
