Obituary

Douglas Luvie Jacobsen, husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, and patriot passed away on October 17, 2023 just 18 days shy of his 81st birthday. He was born November 4, 1942 in Winnemucca, NV to Dell and Wanda Jacobsen. On December 29, 1962 he married Nedene (Stringham), and for 60 years, these two high school sweethearts from Vernal, Utah, loved each other--and their family and friends. Doug graduated from Brigham Young University and later obtained his Master's Degree at Troy University. He proudly served in the Air Force for 20 years as a Public Affairs Officer and retired at the rank of Lt. Colonel. Doug then worked for McDonnell Douglas and Boeing as Protocol Manager.

Doug loved his children and grandchildren. His greatest joy was being with them, playing cards, traveling the world, and spoiling his grandchildren. He loved playing the lottery, but we never understood why, because he'd often say, "My greatest win was winning the lottery of life with my family and friends."

An avid fan of the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers, Doug loved collecting baseball memorabilia, meeting his baseball heroes from this era, and twice, he even went to Dodger Baseball Fantasy Camp where he was voted the Most Valuable Player. During his MVP game, Doug hit a double that was pitched by Tommy Lasorda, caught a critical out, and cracked at least four muscles in his face by smiling so big.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents Dell and Wanda, and by his brother, Rex Jacobsen.

Doug is survived by his wife, Nedene Jacobsen; daughter, Juli (Craig) Eivens and their sons, Parker and Bennett. Son, Philip (His three cats) Jacobsen. Son, Brad (Dominique) Jacobsen and their children, Laura (Josh) Schnurr (and their son, great-grandchild Ryan), Calvin Jacobsen, Sam Jacobsen, Matt Jessop, and Gabi Jessop.

The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 30, 2023 in the Chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home (5600 Williams Dr, Georgetown, TX). A reception will follow the service. Doug will be given military honors (1400—2 p.m.) at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas with Military Honors to be rendered by the United States Air Force, for all to visit every Veteran's Day.

If you met Doug (Shock me!) you have laughed.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his honor to the Wounded Warriors Project.

Doug, Doogie-boy, Daddyman, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Uncle Doug, Lou will be greatly missed.
