Lightfoot
Dec 6, 1950 — Oct 19, 2020
Charles Edward Lightfoot, Jr. , of Marble Falls, TX, passed away on October 19, 2020.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 SH 195, Killeen, Texas.
Charles, known as Charlie to his family and friends, was born to Pauline (Locascio) Brown and Charles Edward Lightfoot, Sr., in Oceanside, California, on December 6, 1950, while his father was a marine stationed at Camp Pendleton.
He was the oldest of 6 children and the first in his family to graduate with a BS degree, graduating from Embry-Riddle University. He was drafted during the Vietnam war and elected to join the Army which he ended up making it a life-long career, and retired as a Master Sergeant in December 2010. He did multiple tours throughout the world during his career.
Charlie was a loving husband to his wife, Debbie, a loving father to his children, Stacy, Scott, and Justin, and an entertaining grandfather to his grandchildren.
He was a dedicated soldier and believed in the goal of taking care of the mission and taking care of his people.
In 1981, Charlie decided to go the civilian route, but continued in the National Guard and Reserves. He returned to active duty in 2003, following our great nation's attack by terrorists in 2001. His last active duty assignment was working with the Wounded Warrior Program at Fort Hood, Texas. He was dedicated to helping soldiers transitioning to civilian life from active duty deployments. Following his retirement in 2010, he continued to serve as a peer-to-peer mentor to help soldiers and their families receive the assistance they needed.
Charlie was preceded in death by both of his parents; step-mother, Jane Lightfoot; brother, Kenny Brown; and grandparents, Frank and Rose Locascio, who he dearly loved. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Debra Moe Lightfoot of Marble Falls; daughter, Stacy Metcalf and her husband Coker Metcalf, of North Carolina; son, Scott Lightfoot and his wife Dayna Reggero, of North Carolina; son Justin Lightfoot and his wife Sarah, of North Carolina; grandchildren, Gunner and Gabby Metcalf and Isaiah Lightfoot; brothers, James Lightfoot and Roy Lightfoot of North Carolina; sisters, Kathy Rubio and Susan Fischbeck of Florida; stepfather, Ishmael Brown of Florida; and aunt, Ann Guiliano of Florida.
Charlie belonged to several veteran organizations. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to a veteran organization of your choice.
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:12-13
