In 1980, Carolyn and Don moved from Ohio to Portland, Texas. Then to College Station, where her children attended Texas A&M University, and finally, Georgetown, where they opened an educational toy store. She later worked for Pulte Homes in Sun City before semi-retiring. She was an active member of the Sertoma Club for many years and oversaw the East View High School Serteens for a few years when her Serteens won the National Serteens honor. Her passions were being of service to the community, her family, and she loved gardening. She was a bright light during trying times, and no matter what, you knew you were loved. She was a friend to everyone and touched many lives. Among all the sentiments, the quality most remarked about her was her kindness to others and such a nice person to be around.
