Carlotta Young of Georgetown, Texas, passed away the evening of March 10, 2025, at the age of 80
Carlotta was born on September 12, 1944, to her loving parents Emile and Ernestine (Wickliff) Fontenot in Ames, Texas. She attended Carter G. Woodson High School in Raywood, Texas. After completing high school, she attended Prairie View A & M University, where she graduated with a B.A. in clothing & textiles. After graduating, she married the love of her life, Clark Young. They were married on February 17, 1968, after he returned from Vietnam.
Carlotta was a career educator, who touched many lives. She taught 4th grade for 17 years at St. Pius X in Rochester, Minnesota and 6th grade for 23 years in Georgetown, Texas. She cherished working with active students because she saw herself in them and understood their need to be taught differently. Creativity was her gift. She enjoyed sewing and even helped friends with alterations. Carlotta continued her love of shopping and finding the best sale throughout her retirement. But, most of all, she valued her family. She was a devoted wife for 54 years, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother.
Carlotta was a member of St. Helen's Catholic Church for over 35 years. Her faith in God and prayer time was of the utmost importance to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, and sister, Regina Fontenot.
She is survived by her son, Chadwin Young and wife, Qiana; daughter, Cerissa Young Tillman and husband, Garland; brother, Dwight Fontenot and wife, Frances; sister, Rosie Rocke; brother, Emile Fontenot Jr. and wife, Lillie; grandchildren, Caelyn and Cayson Young, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
