Obituary

Jeannine Woodard Fairburn

January 24, 1932 - April 26, 2026

HOWDY !!!... BIG HUG !!!... GOD BLESS YOU !!!...

Jeannine entered every room with a "Howdy", a hug for everyone and "God Bless You". She never met a stranger and was always able to light up the room with smiles and hugs. Jeannine had the best smiles and infectious laugh.

Within 20-30 questions she discovered everything about you and your accomplishments. She was so engaging and made everyone feel so special. You never wondered where she stood on a topic. Loved to travel and took her whole family on trips. Card games, Mexican dominoes, Liverpool Rummy, and Canasta were some of her favorite pastimes. She was an accomplished artist.

Born in LaPorte, TX she grew up in Seabrook, went to nursing school and married an Air Force officer (Edward Fairburn). They had 3 children and moved to Georgetown in 1971. She worked at Georgetown Hospital as a surgical nurse for ~7 years.

She was active over 35 organizations including Wesleyan Homes, The Palace Theatre, PEO, Music Club, BIG, Newcomer's Club, Mainstreet Project, Eagle & Band Boosters, San Gabriel Women's Club to mention a few.

Accomplishments consisted of 1992 Citizen of the year, 1997 State Federated Outstanding Woman Volunteer, founding member of the Community Counseling Center, Charter member of the Palace board, Williamson Museum Greeter, volunteer for the Georgetown Visitor Center, Beautify Georgetown Association and more.

She loved First Methodist Church, was a member for 55 years and active in choir, Sunday School classes, Stephen Minister for 8 years, Youth Coordinator and Emmaus. She was the best greeter with open arms.

She adored her family leaving behind Tanya Allen, Tamara Rains (Robert) and Scott Fairburn (Saralee) with 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Grandchildren remember her as a beacon of joy and a caring mentor.

Having been a beautiful example of a loving, devoted Christian woman she would ask all of us to live your life to the fullest.

Services to be held at the First United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm this Friday May 1, 2026.
