Obituary

Alvin Lloyd (Al) Moore, 84, of Georgetown, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 17, 2019.
He was born on a farm outside Florence, Texas on July 14, 1934 to his loving parents, Luther Houston and Vernie Alice (King) Moore.
He served his country, honorably, in the United States Army at Fort Carson, Colorado and Fort Lewis, Washington from 1957 to 1959. After the Army, he began a career that involved driving and operating heavy equipment. He spent several years transporting Charolais bulls all over the United States for breeding purposes. He then worked for about 2 years at the concrete plant in Georgetown. After that, he worked for Williamson County at the Georgetown maintenance office. He spent 25 years working for TxDOT, at the Georgetown maintenance office. After retiring from TxDOT, he was employed by Georgetown Independent School District for 17 years, as a special education bus driver. His time at this job was the most rewarding part of his entire career. His students called him "Mister Al."  He retired from bus driving in May of 2012. He was a decades-long member and deacon of the Church of Christ in Georgetown.
He married his loving wife, Barbara June (Chance) Moore, on May 29, 1964, in Georgetown, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Vernie Moore; his brothers: Clifford Moore, Cecil Moore, and Charles Moore; and his sister, Faye Blackman.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Barbara Moore of Georgetown, Texas; son, Stephen Moore of Long Beach, California; son, Michael Moore of Georgetown, Texas; brother, Richard Moore and wife Merle of Austin, Texas; sister-in-law, Dolores Moore of Florence, Texas; brother-in-law, Charles Chance and wife Dorcas of Round Rock, Texas; sister-in-law, Joan Chance of Lampasas, Texas; many loving nieces and nephews; and his dear feline companion, Hazel.
A private graveside service was held at Fore Cemetery in Georgetown.
All are welcome to a memorial service celebrating his life on Sunday, June 9, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Georgetown Church of Christ, 1525 W. University Ave.
