William Harry Sellers passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021 in Round Rock, Texas. He was born June 7, 1932 on the family farm to Paul and Jean Sellers in Lewistown, Missouri. Bill grew up near Lewistown and thanked God that he was born and raised on a farm. He came to know the Lord Jesus at an early age, taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon for many years.
Bill graduated mid-century (1950) from Lewistown High School. He attended Hannibal LaGrange College and Kirksville State Teachers College, which is now Truman University. He spent 38 months in the Army at Camp Chaffee in Arkansas and Fort Bliss in Texas. It was in El Paso that Bill met the love of his life, Woodie Joerine, at the First Baptist Church, they married in 1955. Bill graduated from the University of Missouri in 1958. He also received a Masters Degree in Animal Husbandry in 1962 from the University of Missouri. He worked for Texaco in Anacortes, Washington and for the University of Missouri as an Extension Youth Agent from 1958 to 1966. He trained in Knox County and served in Macon County, Marion County, and a short time in Callaway County and Atchison County, Missouri. After extension work he joined State Farm Insurance as an Insurance Agent in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and later in McAllen and Taylor, Texas. He also stayed in the U.S. Army Reserves after active duty and retired as a Captain, after serving as Private through Sergeant in the enlisted ranks. Bill spent 29 years with State Farm, 22 years in the Army and over 66 wonderful years with his beautiful wife. He was a member of The Worship Place in Georgetown.
Bill is survived by his spouse, Joerine, of Georgetown, TX. Their daughters, Sheri and husband David Brooks of Taylor and Gayla and husband Lynn Bonnet of Florence. Grandchildren include Josh and wife Arin Schernik of Harlingen, Katie and husband Brandon Eubank of Katy, Veronica Bonnet of Hutto, and Lyle and wife Stephanie Bonnet of Leander. Five great grandchildren include Eva, Leah and Nolan Schernik, Michael and Conor Eubank, Jordan Luna and Gregory Scheierman.
Bill is also survived by his brother Robert Paul Sellers and wife Jan of Lewistown, Missouri and nieces, Susan Tiblier and Barbara Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Jean Sellers, nephew, Stephen Sellers, and grandson Caleb Brooks.
Visitation will be at Ramsey Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM. Burial will be at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to First Baptist Church of Lewistown, Missouri for Children & Youth Ministry, 300 South Elm Street, Lewistown, Missouri 63452, in Memory of William Sellers.
