Weldon Whitten, 92, of Georgetown, Texas passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018.
Weldon was born on January 21, 1926 in Elgin, Texas to his parents, Thomas Eugene and Ruby (Jarmon) Whitten. He married the love of his life, Vivian Giddens, on July 18, 1953 in Abilene, Texas. He selflessly served in the United State Navy, during World War II, and was honorably discharged in June 1946. He was a proud member of the "Greatest Generation" our country has ever seen.
Weldon was a self-employed Certified Dental Technician for over 35 years in the Austin and Georgetown area, retiring in 1991. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Georgetown, where he faithfully served as a Deacon, Deacon Chair, Trustee, and also served on various committees. He was also a member of the Rotary Club of Georgetown.
Weldon was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; his parents, Thomas and Ruby; and his brother, Donald Whitten.
To cherish his memory, Weldon leaves behind his son, Mark Weldon Whitten and wife Virginia of Spring, Texas; daughter, Dana Ann Whitten and husband Rick Halsell of Kingsland, Texas; grandsons: John Weldon Whitten II and wife Elya of Abilene, Texas and Hunt Maddox Whitten and wife Carla of Spring, Texas; granddaughter, Tasha Barch and husband Eric of Ponder, Texas; great-grandsons: Samuel Whitten, and Ethan Barch; great-granddaughters: Sarah Whitten, Savannah Whitten, Abigail Barch, Rebekah Barch and Hannah Barch.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Wesleyan at Estrella Independent Living in the Chautauqua Room on the 3rd floor of the west side. 139 Estrella Crossing, Georgetown, Texas. Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Navy.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Elgin, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wesleyan at Estrella's Benevolence Fund.
