Obituary

Toni Evetts, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Toni's life was defined by her deep love of God, her family, friends, and community, and her many passions including art, service to others, and time spent with the people she loved most.

Toni was born on August 22, 1953, in Pittsburg, Texas. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1971 and went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin, earning a degree in Biology in 1976 with minors in Chemistry, Math, and Physics. In 1977, she completed her degree in Medical Technology from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas. A lifelong and die-hard Longhorn, Toni loved watching Texas Longhorn football and volleyball and proudly followed UT athletics throughout her life.

After completing her education, Toni began her career at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where she worked in clinical chemistry and served in a supervisory role, helping support the early computerization of hospital operations. She later moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she worked at the University of New Mexico Hospital as a lab manager and helped implement new systems and processes. Toni also taught biology labs at Northeast Community College before later transitioning into real estate, working as a Realtor with Keller Williams in Austin.

Toni married on December 18, 1976, and raised her family in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. She was an active and devoted member of Tennison Memorial United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities over the years including on the Board of Trustees, as a Sunday School teacher, in the Chancel Choir, as Director of Vacation Bible School, and as Chairman of the Landscape Committee. She was also involved in the Mt. Pleasant Parent Teacher Organization and served on several school committees.

Beyond church and family, Toni was deeply involved in her community and social circles. She was a member of the 20th Century Club, Serendipity Club, Community Bible Study leadership, the Mt. Pleasant Art Society, and the Southwestern Watercolor Society. Toni was a talented artist with a special passion for watercolor, earning awards and hosting several solo shows over the years. She was also a wonderful cook with a true gift for hospitality, finding great joy in opening her home and hosting friends and family. Whether through a carefully prepared meal or a simple gathering around the table, Toni had a way of making everyone feel welcome, comfortable, and cared for. In addition, she enjoyed live music and theater, tennis, board games, and simply being together with those she loved.

In 2013, Toni moved to Austin, Texas, to be closer to family.

She is survived by her sons Austin Evetts and Cole Evetts; her daughters-in-law Kate Evetts and Leslie Evetts; her beloved grandchildren Reese Evetts and Sadie Evetts; her brother Tom White and brother-in-law David Smith; and her partner Jack Atkinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Jenny White.
