Tom Eugene Cross died September 8, 2024, at the age of 81.
Tom was born and grew up in Kingsville, Texas. He graduated from H.M. King High in May, 1961; then attended Grinnell College in Grinnell, lowa. Tom attended the University of Texas, Austin, where he earned a BBA followed by an MBA in June, 1968. Tom was lucky enough to have a career in the computer software industry, with assignments as a software engineer, programmer, and manager, first at Electronic Data Systems from June 1968 through 1975, then at IBM from 1975 until 2000.
Throughout his life, Tom often volunteered his time, participating as a Jr. Achievement Advisor, Boy Scout Troop Sponsor, Cub Scout pack leader, Camp Fire den leader, Youth Soccer assistant coach, coach, and referee, T-Ball assistant coach, Round Rock ISD grade school mentor, greeter at Seaton N.W., Artists Aid at the Seattle Opera and Seattle Symphony, mentor at a Seattle Inner-City Grade School, aid to the Washington State Prison Pet Partnership Program, help at the Williamson County Humane Society, aid for the Recording for Blind & Dyslexic, cameraman for Sun City News & Views, AcTAG lighting team staff and leader, advisor for Kiwanis Richarte Key Club, library assistant at the Sun City library.
Tom is survived by his wife Susanne K. Arney; son Eric J. Cross and his ex-wife Teresa Cross; daughter Heather M. Robbins and her husband James Robbins; Eric & Teresa's daughters Chloe and Ella; and Eric and Heather's mother Judith Anne Bengtson Cross.
Tom will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity if you are so inclined.
