Obituary

Thomas Edward Greenamyer

11-08-1949 - 10-13-2026

Thomas Edward Greenamyer, age 76, walked into the loving embrace of our Lord and Savior, on October 13th, 2026 in Round Rock, TX.

A time of visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, October 23rd, 2026 at the Ramsey Funeral Home, located on 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX 78633.

A Memorial Service will be held in his honor at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 24th, at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown, TX with Rev. Donny Jackson officiating from Cedar Valley Baptist Church in Salado, TX.

Burial, with full Military Honors, will follow at 3:30 P.M. in the Florence Cemetery in Florence, TX.

Thomas was born in Miami, FL to Glen Thomas Greenamyer and Sybil Greenamyer on November 8th, 1949. He married Debra Charline Bowman, Greenamyer on May 26th, 2001. They shared the next 25 years working, traveling, enjoying their blended families and their time given together, proving that God often gives second chances in the Senior years of one’s life. They were each others’ best friend and soulmates.

Thomas served his country proudly for over 20 years with the U.S. Army, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer III. He traveled all over the world, including one and a half tours in Vietnam during the Vietnam War, and three tours to Germany. He received many Commemorations of Service as well as the Bronze Star Medal. Thomas served as a Logistician in the Army. Upon his Army retirement, he continued working in the same field as a contractor for the U.S. Army at Ft. Hood, TX and then as an instructor, teaching Logistics for the National Guard all over the United States.

Thomas also finished his college degree with Excelsior College with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Thomas was a proud Veteran, and his patriotism knew no limits as did his love of country. He would often return to Ft. Hood and welcome soldiers coming home during Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom and other service operations. He always wanted them to know their service was appreciated.

Thomas loved teaching children the significance of the American Flag, its origin, the meaning of the stars and bars, and how to properly fold the flag, and then properly dispose of it when worn. He traveled to many schools holding seminars, often dressed in a full Continental Uniform as a Soldier reenacting the proper etiquette of our American Flag. The children loved him. He also worked diligently creating Scholarship Opportunities for High School Seniors.

Thomas enjoyed many activities in his life, including his love to fish, putting puzzles together, and he was an avid reader. He loved anything to do with History, and studied both American and World History constantly.

Thomas’ biggest love was of people in general. He never met a stranger, would greet you with a beautiful smile and handshake, and had an unbelievable memory for people’s names. He was always positive, and looked for the best in everyone. He continued relationships with many of his High School Classmates and loved hearing from them. One of the best descriptions heard of Thomas was that he was a “Gentle Giant.”

One of Thomas’ favorite activities was being a part of the Gideon Fellowship and handing out Bibles at the Colleges and Universities, and other locations. Spreading the Word of God was paramount in Thomas’ life.

Thomas was confirmed in his faith at the age of 15, on March 22nd, 1964 at The Christ Congregation Church in Miami, FL. Upon his death, he was a member of Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown, TX.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Sybil Greenamyer, his first wife, Luigia Greenamyer, and one son, Justin Ryan Bowman.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Debra Bowman, Greenamyer of Georgetown, TX; sister Jerri Ball and husband Larry Ball Sr. of Peachtree, GA; stepdaughter Sabina Dazzi of Bellmar, Germany; daughter, Kathy McMahan and husband Robert, of Junction City, KS; daughter Sylvia Sherman and husband Jeremiah of Killeen, TX; and son Mark Bowman and wife Heather, of Killeen, TX.

He is also survived by 7 grandchildren that he absolutely adored: Hensley Bowman, Jayden Cabaid, Lyssa Cabaid, Marc Fueston, Nathan McMahan, Charlie McMahan, and Lizzie McMahan. He is also blessed with 4 great-grandchildren with another one on the way, a host of nieces and nephews, and many friends and family that were a very special part of Thomas’ life.

Thomas was well-loved and cherished by all who knew him because he left a lasting impression of kindness.

Pallbearers: Mark Bowman, Steven Marley, Jayden Cabaid, Larry Ball Sr., Randy Smith, Jeremiah Sherman, Chris Titridge, Robert McMahan, and Lyssa Cabaid.
