Obituary

Terrance "Terry" Hagen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 27th, 2024.   He was surrounded by his family, who will continue to honor him by living their lives to the fullest.

Terry was born on March 8th, 1948 in Crookston, MN to Veril and Gloria (Ryan) Hagen.  From an early age, Terry's life was marked by strong family bonds, deep friendships, and a core desire to serve the Lord.

Terry met the love of his life, Joyce, in the second grade.  As childhood sweethearts, they began dating in the 7th grade and were Homecoming King and Queen in their senior year, setting the stage for a lifetime of love and partnership.  Terry, a natural athlete and leader, served as the Captain of the Football team while also playing basketball in high school.

After graduating from Henning High School in 1966, Terry went on to attend Moorhead College and Bemidji State College.  He received a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from the University of Arizona. He also obtained a Master of Business Administration from the University of Arizona.

On Valentine's Day 1970, Terry married the love of his life Joyce Cordes.  Just before being married, Terry enlisted in the Air Force where he served with distinction for four years, including a lengthy station in Taiwan.  Terry and Joyce shared over five decades of marriage and were blessed with three daughters: Jody, and twins Kelly and Briana.  Throughout their lives together, Joyce and Terry made their homes in Tucson, AZ, Rochester, MN, and finally in Georgetown, TX.

Terry built a successful career at IBM, working in purchasing and procurement for 25 years until his retirement.  Known for his strong Christian faith, Terry was a "prayer warrior", always ready to offer a prayer and support to anyone in need.  He dedicated his life to his family, actively involved in his daughters' lives and providing unwavering support and love in every way.

Terry had a passion for fishing and enjoyed over thirteen trips to Aerofoil, Canada with friends.  He often played the guitar and sang, bringing joy to those around him.  He also loved to play golf and would get out on the course when able.  Terry completed a bucket list item of skydiving in his mid-60s.  In his words, "Never Again!!"

Terry is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 54 years, his three children Jody Thornton of Georgetown, TX; Kelly (Kirsten) Kasai of Boston, MA; Briana (David) Satzke of Byron, MN; and his siblings Natalie (Ian) Child of Olympia, WA; Shawn (Paulette) Hagen of Hawley, MN.  He is also survived by his beloved six grandchildren: Preston and Payton Satzke of Byron, MN, Annabelle Paulik, Jay, George, and Eva Thornton of Georgetown, TX.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ron (Mary) Hagen.

Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown, TX is overseeing preparations.

If you feel led to donate, memorial donations will be accepted to support three organizations that were important to Terry:  Parkinson's Group in Sun City, TX; Cancer Centers of MD Anderson in Houston, TX; and Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
