In Loving Memory of Sylvia Clara Tackett Justice

Sylvia Clara (Tackett) Justice passed away peacefully in San Antonio, Texas on January 10, 2026. Born April 29, 1937 in a log cabin nestled in the hills of the Appalachian Mountain Range in Daleyville, Ohio, Clara was the fourth of seven children born to James and Zelma Tackett. She attended school in nearby Waverly, Ohio.

Clara married James F. Justice, of New Holland, Ohio, on November 1, 1958. Together, they raised three sons: Dana, Paul, and Joe. She deeply cherished her family and created a loving home for her children.

Clara's love for God, her country, family, friends, and neighbors was evident in everything she did. She found joy in nature, especially in watching birds and butterflies, and had a special fondness for all of God's creatures, with dogs being her favorite. In her golden years, Clara enjoyed watching baseball games and was an enthusiastic supporter of the Cincinnati Reds and Texas Rangers. She also had a passion for poetry, often expressing her deepest feelings with loved ones through her poems.

Clara is preceded in death by both parents, husband Jim, son Dana, grandson Cameron and four siblings – Thelma, Jimmy, Steve and Sara. She is survived by her sons Joe and Paul and their families, two sisters – Doris Cooper and Janice Withrow, as well as two special sons and their families: Jeff Roberts of Kabul, Missouri, and Sam Hilliard of Elgin, Texas. She leaves behind ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be planned for a later date.

In honor of Clara's love for animals and books, donations may be sent to the Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation in Austin, Texas, or the Williamson County Animal Shelter in Georgetown. Donations to your local library or animal shelter are also welcomed, as reading and animals were among Clara's great passions.
