Steven Mark
Squyres
August 24, 1962 – April 6, 2026
Steven Mark Squyres, 63, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on April 6, 2026, and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Steve was born on August 24, 1962, at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, New Mexico, to Edna Rae McSwain and W.A. “Billy” Squyres. He grew up in Houston, Texas, where he attended school. After graduating from computer technology school, he briefly worked as a computer technician before discovering his true passion for working outdoors.
Steve found deep satisfaction in construction, building commercial metal buildings and homes, performing home repairs, landscaping, and tackling a wide variety of projects. Known as a true “Jack of all trades,” he was willing to take on almost any challenge. In the early 2000s, he moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area and served as fleet manager for a large plumbing company.
In 2003, Steve was diagnosed with liver disease. He faced this diagnosis with remarkable courage and battled it for more than two decades until it progressed to cancer. During this difficult journey, a neighbor and pastor, Steve Cloer of Southside Church of Christ, invited him to church. This invitation sparked a renewed and vibrant faith in Jesus Christ. Steve became an active member of Southside Church, particularly in the HOPE class, where he assisted in teaching. He joyfully served the church family by driving the church van, working in the food bank, and helping in any way he could, until his health no longer allowed. He was blessed to participate in the church’s annual mission trip to Ecuador, where he formed lasting friendships and found great joy in serving the Lord alongside his church family.
On March 1, 2026, Steve moved to a long-term care facility in Hutto, Texas, to be closer to family in Georgetown. It was there that God called him home on April 6.
