Stephen Maurice
Shell
March 17, 1950 – December 18, 2024
Stephen "Steve" Maurice Shell, 74, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
Born in Georgetown, Texas, on March 17, 1950, Steve was the third of four children born to Jonas and Claris Shell. He was raised on the family ranch, developing a strong work ethic and knowledge of ranching.
After graduating from Georgetown High School in 1968, Steve attended Southwest Texas State University. Steve met Marla Brown at the Georgetown Dairy Queen on the corner of Main and University, and they were married October 10, 1970 at First Baptist Church Liberty Hill. A proud veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1973 on the USS Enterprise.
Steve and Marla returned to Georgetown where Steve worked as a carpenter, rancher, and school bus driver. He will be remembered for his commitment to loving and serving his family and neighbors. Steve would consider his greatest treasures to be his many fond memories spending time with his devoted wife Marla and the families of his three sons. Steve looked forward to the many visits by his grandchildren and spending time with them at his home.
Steve is survived by his wife of 54 years Marla (Brown) Shell and sons: Matt Shell (Valerie), Mark Shell (Trish), and Kirt Shell (Keri) and nine grandchildren: Stephen, Susannah, Meredith, Allison, Heather, Carter, Hadley, Emery, and Beckett. He is also survived by his siblings: John Shell (Catherine), Joy Adkins, Rosemary Tanner (David); and many beloved nieces and nephews. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Jonas and Claris Shell and brother-in-law John Adkins.
The Shell family would like to extend their appreciation to the many supportive family members and friends who encouraged Steve and Marla during his struggle with Parkinson's Disease.
Visitation with family and friends will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, December 22nd at Ramsey Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 23rd at Ramsey. The graveside service will follow at Berry Creek Cemetery in Georgetown, Texas.
