Obituary

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Simon Hernandez, who entered into eternal rest on June 13, 2026.

Simon was born on August 6, 1965, in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Maria de la Luz Hernandez and Federico Espinoza. After the passing of his father when Simon was only one year old, he was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Francisca and Simon Espinoza, whose love, guidance, and values helped shape the remarkable man he would become. He was proudly named after his grandfather, Simon, a name he carried with honor throughout his life.

At the young age of 18, Simon met the love of his life, Maria Ernestina Villafranco Chavez. Their love story blossomed into a lifelong partnership filled with devotion, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment. Together they built a beautiful family and shared many years of love and memories.

Simon was the proud father of five children: Federico Hernandez, Nataly Hernandez, Maria Susana Hernandez (preceded in death), Jose Simon Hernandez, and Jacqueline Hernandez. His greatest joy was his family, and he dedicated his life to providing for them, guiding them, and loving them unconditionally.

A hardworking man with an incredible work ethic, Simon spent many years in the construction industry, where he became known for his beautiful stonework and craftsmanship. The work of his hands can be found throughout the communities he served. Earlier this year, he began a new chapter working for the Jarrell Independent School District, a job he greatly enjoyed and took pride in.

Beyond his work, Simon found joy in life's simple blessings. He loved keeping his lawn perfectly manicured, and his family often remembers hearing him singing throughout the day. His playful spirit brought laughter to those around him, and his generous heart was always ready to help anyone in need. He had a special love for nature and took great delight in feeding the birds that visited his home each day. Watching them gather brought him peace and happiness.

Simon leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humility, hard work, and love. He was the kind of man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand, offer words of encouragement, or share what he had with others. His life was a testament to perseverance, faith, and the importance of family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Ernestina Villafranco Chavez; his children, Federico, Nataly, Jose Simon, and Jacqueline; his 12 cherished grandchildren; his beloved great-granddaughter; and many extended family members and friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.

Although our hearts ache with his absence, we find comfort in knowing that his love, lessons, and example will continue to live on through all those whose lives he touched. We imagine him now at peace, reunited with loved ones who went before him, singing joyfully and watching over us from heaven.

Dad, your hands built so much more than stone and walls you built a family, a legacy, and a lifetime of beautiful memories. We will miss your laughter, your songs, your wisdom, and your loving presence every day.

Until we meet again, we will carry you in our hearts forever.
