Shirley
Stoner
January 2, 1946 – February 22, 2025
Shirley Stoner, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on February 22, 2025. She was born on January 2, 1946, and grew up on the family's farm in Logan, Iowa, where she was surrounded by extended family who helped her develop the strong values of hard work, kindness, and a family first mentality that shaped her life.
At 15, Shirley met the love of her life, Jack, and together they built a marriage that lasted an incredible 58 years. She was a natural nurturer, a quality that led her to Immanuel School of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska, where she trained to care for others with compassion and skill. That same unwavering care extended to her own children and family, whom she cherished deeply.
Shirley had a lifelong love for sports. Whether watching a game on TV—where it was rare to find anything but sports playing—or participating when she was able, she was always engaged. An accomplished basketball player in her younger years, she also held her own on the tennis court, proving that her competitive spirit and athleticism were as strong as her kindness.
Throughout her life, Shirley called many places home, each one adding new chapters to her story and introducing her to lifelong friends. From Ponca City, Oklahoma, to Abilene, Katy, Horseshoe Bay, and Georgetown, Texas; from Arvada, Colorado, to London, and Sutton-on-sea England—she had packing and moving down to a science. Wherever she went, she formed deep and lasting connections. Her warmth and kindness drew people in, and she treasured the friendships she built in each community.
Above all, Shirley's greatest joy was her family. She found fulfillment in the roles of wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister, giving her love freely and generously. Her warmth, strength, and unwavering support made her a cornerstone in the lives of her family.
Faith was at the heart of Shirley's life, guiding her in all she did. She had a strong trust in God, and her faith influenced her family in countless ways. She was a constant source of encouragement and prayer, always lifting up her loved ones. Her devotion was an inspiration, and the strength she drew from her faith was evident in the way she lived her life.
Shirley will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Jack; her son Steve, his wife Kim, and their children Dillon (and his wife Bethany), Ally (and her husband Blake), and Brynn; Her son Andy, his wife Jennifer, and their children Sydney, Kayley, and Jack; Her son Jason, and his wife Heather, and their children Peyton, Brody, and Hudson; Her son Nick, and his wife Nancy and their children, Race and Jonesy; her brother Chuck and his wife Sandee, her many nieces and nephews. They were all in her prayers every night.
Services will be held on March 12, 2025 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to the Assistance League where she volunteered, and The Caring Place, both in Georgetown.
