Sherry
Smith
December 13, 1959 – February 27, 2024
Sherry Smith, a cherished beacon of love and warmth, sadly passed away in the early hours of February 27th, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous five-year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Sherry's indomitable spirit, boundless strength, and profound kindness shined brightly throughout her life, inspiring all who knew her to be #SherryStrong.
Sherry's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of love, family, and friendship. She embraced her roles as a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend with unmatched fervor and grace. Sherry's legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to cherish every moment with those she loved. She was a living testament to the power of choosing joy, even in the face of life's most daunting challenges.
The Smith family extends an invitation to all who were touched by Sherry's remarkable life to join in commemorating her legacy. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Wednesday, March 20th, at St. Helen's Catholic Church in Georgetown, TX, at 10 am, followed by a "Party at Mimi's" Celebration of Life at the Smith residence on Saturday, March 23rd, from 11 am to 5 pm. This gathering will be a time to share stories, laughter, and memories of Sherry's beautiful journey. Attendees are encouraged to wear purple (in homage to her love for her Wildcats) or anything else that evokes special memories of Sherry.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations be made to I AM ALS, an organization near and dear to Sherry's heart, which is dedicated to advancing the search for a cure and supporting those affected by ALS.
Sherry is survived by her mother, Irma Jackson, her brother, George Jackson, her husband, Kevin Smith, her three boys, Ryan Smith, Darin Smith, and Chad Smith, and her two granddaughters, Luna and Phoebe Smith. Her family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the love and support extended to Sherry and to them during these challenging times. They hope to see you at the celebrations to remember and honor a truly extraordinary soul who has left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
She was preceded in death by her father, Reese Jackson.
With love and remembrance,
