Sheridan was born August 2,1940 in Odessa, Texas to parents William and Helen Grace Pettit. She attended Odessa High School, graduating in 1958.

Sheridan was a proud graduate from The University of Texas, earning a Bachelor's degree in Education and later a Master's in Library Science. During college Sheridan performed in the Longhorn Marching band playing the bass clarinet and was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. While in college, she met and married Herschel Thornton Moore of Austin and had 3 children, Margaret, Bill, and Alice.

After relocating to San Antonio with her children, a lifelong learner, Sheridan pursued a post graduate Certification in Administration from Our Lady of the Lake University. She then served as an administrator for San Antonio Independent School District and adjunct professor at Our Lady of the Lake University, prior to retirement. With an incredible work ethic and belief in the importance of education, she was highly regarded as an advocate for educators and students alike.Sheridan's legacy lives through the many teachers, students and communities she served.

As one would expect, Sheridan thoroughly enjoyed history and researching her ancestry, maintaining memberships with the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an avid reader, stain glass creator, and relished adding to her collection of fine china, silver, and crystal.

Sheridan will be remembered for her love of family, kindness, commitment to learning, and fantastic holiday table setting.
