Scott Leo Tefft, Sr., passed away at home at 89 years old in Sun City, Georgetown, Texas.
He was born on January 8th, 1936, in Sturgis, South Dakota, and passed away peacefully on Monday, September 15, 2025. He attended Creighton Preparatory High School and University of Nebraska in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated with degrees in Engineering and Business.
In his youth he worked as a deck hand on a Dredge on the Missouri River, among other jobs. After graduating from college, he worked as an Industrial Engineer, a Software Engineer, and a Computer Programmer. Closer to retirement he worked as a meat cutter/butcher.
Scott was involved in Boy Scout activities with his sons, and various church related ministries including church lector, extraordinary minister, homebound ministry, and Life Chain, for many years. Scott also assisted his wife, Julie, with many of her extra activities. Family vacations and camping were favorite and frequent pastimes well into his later years.
Scott is survived by two of his three children; Patricia Ann Hernandez (Hector), and Scott Tefft, Jr; and six grandchildren: Tom Saylor (Adrian), Jessica Warner (Charles), Nick Rodriguez, Christopher Tefft, Sarah Rodriguez, and Emily Tefft. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Mason Saylor, Paige Saylor, Megan Saylor, Natalie Perez, Nathan Warner, and Mara Staalenburg, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother: Tom Tefft (Sue) of Omaha, Nebraska. Scott was preceded in death by his wife: Julia Tefft, his brother; Jon Tefft (Phyllis), both of Omaha, Nebraska, and his son: Michael Tefft (Jenny) of Round Rock, Texas.
Scott is remembered as a tall, devout man, of few words. He loved his cars and kept all the license plates. He was an avid photographer and videographer; and enjoyed keeping a record of all the family activities.
Rosary will begin at 5pm on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Helen Catholic Church, at Georgetown, Texas.
Scott will be laid to rest immediately after the mass at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery, at Georgetown, TX, next to his wife, Julia Tefft.
