Sandra Lee Hooks, 86, of Georgetown, TX, passed away on May 14, 2026. She was born April 9, 1940, to Dock Lee Simmons and Talula Lucille (Crumpton) in Gadsden, AL. She exchanged wedding vows with Charles G Hooks on June 11, 1960. She was a teacher and she loved to travel.

Sandra earned a master’s degree in English literature from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She taught middle school, high school, junior college, and adult education. Sandra opened a boutique dress shop in Huntsville, AL, which she enjoyed, but returned to her true calling of teaching after a few years. Even when she moved to the DC area, where she did not have a teaching certificate, Sandra combined her love of teaching and travel by becoming a tour guide for students in Washington DC.

She planned wonderful vacations for her family including trips across the US, Florida beaches, cruises to the Panama Canal, Bahamas, and Europe, and trips to Italy, Scottland, and China. Sandra loved her children and grandchildren, and nothing brought her more happiness than caring for and loving her family. She created incredible birthday celebrations and holidays for her family.

To cherish her memory, Sandra leaves behind her son, David Hooks (wife Bella), of Pflugerville, TX; daughter Cheryl Jones (husband David) of Hyde Park, UT; and daughter Terri Brooks (husband Aaron) of Prosper, TX; and loving grandchildren Foster and Parker Hooks, and Aidan, Conor, and Kaylee Brooks. She was preceded in death by her husband.

Honorary pallbearers include David Hooks, David Jones, Aaron Brooks, Foster Hooks, Parker Hooks, Aidan Brooks, and Conor Brooks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Alzheimer’s Research.

A celebration of life service for Sandra will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 21, at the San Gabriel Presbyterian Church, 5404 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX 78633.
