Obituary

Sammie Jo Holland Cole, 93, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2019 at her home in Georgetown, Texas. She was born in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma on December 21, 1925 to Sam & Dottie Holland.  After graduating Lone Wolf High School, she moved with her family to Donna, Texas and completed business school. It was in Donna where she met and married the love of her life, Carl Allen Cole, on December 28, 1946. Together they raised their two daughters: Peggy Cole Pawlik and husband Robert, and Patsy Cole Carter and husband Terry all of McAllen, Texas. For nearly 40 years, Sammie and her husband Carl worked in the McAllen real estate industry. While living in McAllen, Sammie was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Renaissance Club, the Book Lovers Club, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She moved to The Oaks in Georgetown, Texas in 2015 to be near her brother, Larry Buck Holland and his wife Mary Ruth.  She enjoyed her time at the Oaks, where she spent time with many special friends.

Sammie was affectionately known as "Grams" to her four grandchildren: Lory Pawlik Suzuki (Ricardo), Randall Pawlik (Lisa), Amy Carter Almasy (James), and Cheryl Carter Segrest (Mark); as well as her eight precious great-grandchildren: Mayumi and Ken Suzuki, Kasch and Lucy Pawlik, Morgan and Sam Almasy, and Carter and Cole Segrest.  They all adored their Grams and her delicious pies.

Sammie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; sisters: Marie Martin, Mildred Fagg, Kathryn Brazil, and Madge Hooper; and her brother, Ed Holland. She is survived by her daughters: Peggy Cole Pawlik (Robert) of McAllen and Blanco, and Patsy Cole Carter (Terry) of Georgetown; brother, Larry Buck Holland (Mary Ruth) of Georgetown; and many nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen, TX.
