Ruben
Torres
July 18, 1952 – November 7, 2019
Ruben Torres was born on July 18, 1952, in Delano, California to Joe and Claudia Torres. The youngest of three children, he attended Earlimart and Delano, California schools where he played the trumpet in the band and enjoyed competing in sports such as football and basketball. During the Vietnam War, he served in the Air Force for two years and was stationed both in Korea and stateside.
Ruben received the Holy Spirit and attended the same Pentecostal church with Zoe's family. They were married on June 7, 1980. They faithfully participated in the Sunday school bus program, Bible Quizzing, and teaching others about God's Word. After tragically losing both parents in the 1993, Ruben later moved his family to Austin, Texas, to be closer to Zoe's family. There, he joined New Life United Pentecostal Church of Austin where he served on many committees such as Men's Ministry, Security, Life Anchors and maintained the church property. He also taught the Life In Focus Parenting Program where he shared with young families how to successfully raise a family. Ruben loved God, family, and his church so very much. He worked as a technician and manager for ABC Home and Commercial Services and made many friends there.
After a brief illness, he passed away at the age of 67, surrounded by his family singing songs of praise to God. Ruben is survived by his wife, Zoe Charlotte Torres, of Georgetown, Texas; son, Joshua Ben Torres (wife, Rebecca) of Hutto, Texas; daughters Joella Ruth Cunningham (husband, Andrew) of Deary, Idaho, Ariana Elizabeth Torres of Waco, Texas, Amy Jonelle Torres of Leander, Texas, and Hannah Marie Torres of Fort Worth, Texas; and sister, Alice Torres, of California. He is also survived by two grandsons, Oliver and Stephen, and six granddaughters: Chavah, Madeline, Nicole, Lillian, Josephine, and Allison. Ruben was preceded in death by parents, Joe and Claudia Torres, and brother, Rudy Torres.
Ruben lived his life for the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and resides with Him in heaven. Even though he is not with us, his example of living a Godly life will remain in our hearts forever.
