It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rosemary Colgrove ("Nana") on September 2, 2026, at the age of 88.

Born in Toledo, Ohio, on May 16, 1928, to Mel and Lucile Sherwin, Rosemary earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. She worked at MD Anderson Hospital and Baylor Eye Institute before becoming a technical writer and editor for companies like Dell, 3M, Hewlett-Packard, and Texas Instruments. She was also an avid reader and published author - fitting for someone who never met a word, book, or good story she didn't love.

Rosemary never stayed put for long. She lived in France, traveled the world including safaris in Africa, and even earned her private pilot's license and piloted a small plane in her younger years, always chasing whatever was around the next corner. Wherever she roamed, though, family, faith, and friends stayed at the center of it all.

Rosemary traveled far, lived well, and wrote her own story - leaving the rest of us with plenty of stories to keep telling, including the one where she spontaneously learned Spanish after a bottle of wine!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mel and Lucile Sherwin, her sister, Carol Parks, and her husband, Dean W. Colgrove.

She is survived by her children, Lori Jan Papic (and husband, Dave Vernal) of Norwalk, Connecticut; Allen W. Rodgers (and wife, Buffy) of Denver, Colorado; and Shelly Fenoglio (and husband, John) of Georgetown, Texas; her stepchildren, Robbin Colgrove of Houston, Texas, and Kassie Savage (and husband, John) of Bryan, Texas; her sister, Bonnie Cory (and husband, Lloyd) of Mills River, North Carolina; and her brother, Jim Sherwin of Brasstown, North Carolina. Then there's the rest of the crew - grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, outlaws, and friends who kept Nana well-supplied with people to love, worry about, brag about, and tell exactly what she thought.

Rosemary's light was too bright to ever truly fade; it lives on in every heart she touched.

Until we see you again, mom, we will miss you dearly...
