Rose Estelle
St. John
September 10, 1932 – September 21, 2025
Rose Estelle St. John of Georgetown, Texas, a sixth generation Texan, died peacefully at her home on September 21, 2025. She lived her life grounded in her Christian faith and was an intelligent, beautiful, loving, and deeply caring great grandmother, grandmother, mother and friend.
She was born on September 10, 1932, in Woodsboro, Texas, the second child of Manila Comelia Evans and John Jacob St. John. The family later moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where Rose graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1949. She attended Del Mar College before transferring to the University of Texas at Austin where she studied Chemistry.
On March 29, 1951, she married her childhood friend, Donald Amos Cowser, in Bryan, Texas. For the first nine years of their marriage the young couple moved to various cities in Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee and Pennsylvania following the construction of oil and gas pipelines. In 1960, the family settled in Houston, Texas to raise their family.
Following her divorce in 1986, Rose remained in Houston and then later moved to Carmel, California. During this time, Rose embraced her independence and focused on setting her life's new direction. In 1997, she returned home to Houston, Texas and then moved to Georgetown, Texas in 2000. Her Mother joined her in Georgetown, where Rose lovingly cared for her during her final years.
An extremely sharp mind and warm spirit, Rose loved a lively and competitive game of bridge and cherished the friendships she built throughout her life. Her compassion, strength, and unwavering support touched all who knew her.
She is survived by her two children: Katie Cowser Park (Robert) of Houston, Texas, and Donald Amos Cowser, Jr. (Mary) of Dallas, Texas; her four grandchildren: Laura Park Fletcher (Kyle) and Robert Andrew Cowser Park (Chris), both of Houston, Texas; Katherine Grace Cowser of Dallas, Texas; and Mary Eugenia Cowser of Austin, Texas. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren: George Evans Fletcher, Park Joseph Fletcher, and Liliana Rose Fletcher, all of Houston, Texas.
Rose will be dearly missed by her family and friends whom touched with her kindness, grace, and love.
Following her wishes, the service will be a private family gathering.
"She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue."
