Obituary

Roger Lee Jones was called to be with his heavenly father on January 4, 2024. He was surrounded by his family and passed peacefully.

Roger was born in Siler City, North Carolina to Helen (Maness) and Warren G. Jones on February 7, 1948. The first year of his life he lived in Bennett, NC. Then his father bought the family a home in Asheboro, NC. Roger would live there until his graduation from Asheboro High School. He was blessed to be the older brother to both Mike and Randy Jones. After graduating he joined the Air Force to serve a 4 year team during the Vietnam War.

It was during his time in the Air Force that he fell in love with a beautiful young lady from Fort Worth, Texas. After dating Shelly Jan Reed for three and a half years, they were married on May 19, 1972. This was the beginning of a 51 year union that was still a pillar of strength at the time of his passing. After leaving the United States Air Force, Roger was able to secure a job with IBM. He would spend the next 30 years making them proud that they hired him. He and Jan settled down in Georgetown and were happy to call it home for the last 40 years.

Roger will be remembered as a man that never met a stranger and as a person that would do whatever he could to help a friend in need. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

RL is survived by his amazing wife Jan, son Jason Jones, daughter Jami Clark, daughter in law Kelly Jones, son in law Matt Clark, grandsons Siler Clark, Davis Jones, and Sutton Clark, granddaughter Baylor Clark, brother Mike Jones and wife Robin, and brother Randy Jones.

The family will host a public viewing on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 3:00-5:00 pm at the Ramsey Funeral Home.Burial service will be on Friday, January 12, at 9:00 am in Killeen at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
