Rodney Eugene Montgomery, 91, proud native Texan, passed away peacefully from natural causes, November 2025.  A funeral service will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX 78633 on Saturday, December 13 at 10:30am.  Honoring his wishes, he will be cremated and interred at IOOF Cemetery next to his wife, Jane, at a later date. Rodney was born in 1934 in Georgetown, TX.  He was one of five siblings.

Rodney was in the Boy Scouts, attended Northside Methodist Church and graduated Georgetown High School in 1952.  He worked as a mechanic for his uncle, and then with Jesse Lozano, one of his best friends. Jesse recruited him into the Georgetown Fire Department in 1957, in which he served a total of 47 years.  He was elected into numerous positions within the department and was also elected Chief of Department in the mid 1970's. Following his mechanic career, he was asked to come work for the Georgetown Urban Renewal Project where he worked for almost ten years and ended up as Program Director. When the Urban Renewal Project finished, Rodney took over his uncle's recycling and scrap metal business until he retired 20 plus years later.

Rodney was preceded in death by his son Ken, his younger brother John, and his wife Jane of 45 years. Rodney leaves behind his sisters, Frankie Ramey, Selinda Miller, and brother Robert Montgomery. Rodney is also survived by his son JH Montgomery and his grandson, Dustin and his wife, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any charitable donations be made in Rodney's name to the Tunnel To Towers Foundation (T2T.org), Wounded Warrior Project, or any small-town Volunteer Fire Department.
