Obituary

In the early hours of Friday, August 16, 2024, the bright and shining light that was Robert "Bob" Milton Gross eclipsed this earth with the passing of a truly remarkable and inspiring man at the tender age of 55.

Bob was welcomed into this world November 26, 1968 to his proud parents, Johnnie & Brenda Gross of Jasper, Alabama. Bob is survived by wife Jennifer, daughters Cara Gross and Kayla Gross and son Chandler Gross, parents Johnnie and Brenda Gross, brother Joel Gross, Uncle Greg and  Aunt Sandra Gross, and many other beloved family members. He was preceded in death by his brother Jody Gross, grandparents Johnnie and Jean Gross, William and Charlon McLain and Uncle Noody McLain.

Spending his youth learning about anything and everything he could get his hands on, Bob graduated from Walker High School in 1987 and spent the next 10 years as a dedicated and highly-decorated member of the US Navy.

After Having served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Bob was Honorably Discharged from the US Navy and later chose to re-enlist in the US Army reserves for 5 years.

While stationed in Norfolk, VA, Bob met the love of his life, Jennifer, in 1992, and they were married just a couple years later on September 3, 1994.

During the almost 30 years of their marriage, Bob & Jennifer welcomed daughters, Cara & Kayla, and son, Chandler, to their beautiful family.   Bob's greatest joys in life were being a loving and supportive husband to Jennifer and an unwavering and dedicated father to their children.  Bob held true to his family as the constant guiding light that always brought them home.

Bob was 100% dedicated to fatherhood and was highly involved in his children's lives, loves, and activities.

A dedicated scout leader, following his children from the smallest of tiger scout to life scouts, Bob gave so much time and energy to his troop and crew. He was at every game and every cheerleading competition. Bob was the dad that was ALWAYS there. HE was always THEIR cheerleader and #1 fan.

Bob spent many years volunteering with Boy Scouts of America serving all leadership rolls from cub master to scout master to commissioner. Volunteering in both Colorado and Texas.

As a resident of Georgetown, TX, Bob was a Lifetime member of VFW Post 8587.  While Bob served many roles over the years, he was most honored to serve as Commander of the post for multiple terms.

In addition to his role at the VFW, Bob was a Master Mason at the San Gabriel Lodge.

Bob spent many years in the "IT" business and was a self-taught master at problem solving.  He joined The Texas Department of Housing and Community affairs in 2019 as a Windows Server Administrator, and then moved to a Cybersecurity Analyst position. He was excited for the opportunities he had been given. There was nothing that could stand in his way!

In his spare time Bob dedicated himself to his love of music.  Bob played many instruments from piano to guitar to the pan flute. He was also a writer and composer.  No matter the instrument, Bob would listen intently to the sounds and the notes and could somehow manage to pick it up and play it!  And oh my, could that man sing!!!

Bob could single-handedly stop a room full of people from what they were doing just to listen to his voice.

He was a master of greatness when it came to his craft and music was his passion!

Whether jumping out of airplanes, walking on the bottom of the world or enjoying time with his family, he always lived life to the fullest. Bob loved to be on the beach, feet in the sand with a cigar and his favorite scotch. He loved traveling the world and had so many more ports to visit.

There never was anyone else like Bob Gross.  To know him, was to truly love and adore him for the man he was and the friend that would always be there.

Bob knew no strangers and his friendship to others was unwavering. He will truly be missed everyday, but will forever be in our hearts.

The Memorial service for Bob will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28th, 2024 in the Chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home. Rev. Jim McLendon will be officiating. United States Navy Honors will be rendered at the beginning of the memorial.
