Obituary

Robert Henry "Hank" Cain was born to Thomas Monroe and Susie Debris Cain on June 26, 1928 in Abernathy, Hale County, Texas.

His early childhood was spent in Abernathy on the family farm until his mother's passing after the birth of her tenth child.  A short time later, Robert's father moved the family to Torreon, New Mexico where Robert spent the remainder of his childhood.  Being the youngest boy and the ninth of ten children, Robert was soon called upon to work the land with his father as the older children moved away and started lives of their own.  He was always proud of the work he and his father did together farming as many as a thousand acres at a time.

As a young man, Robert moved to Washington state in 1943 and worked for a lumber company and in the fruit orchards.  In 1944, he married Martha.  He and his wife then moved to Blythe, California in 1947 where he farmed and worked at a cotton gin. Three of his children, Barbara Darlene, Robert Jr. and Curtis Keith, were born there.  After a cotton gin accident, he moved to Pomona, California and trained as a television technician, working for Sears Roebuck Company.  His remaining two children, Patricia Kathleen and Robert Mark were born during that time.

In 1969 he moved to Cherry Valley, CA.  He became medically retired from Sears Roebuck in 1971 after suffering an auto accident while on the job.  He moved to Georgetown, Texas in 1992 where he built his home on 9 acres of land.  He and Martha enjoyed many years of friends and family visiting, playing games, enjoying the property, watching the wildlife and never tiring of the acres of bluebonnets that came up every Spring.  In 2012 he moved to Katy, Texas to live with his son and daughter-in-law, Curtis Keith and Suzanne, after the passing of his wife.  He enjoyed several years there until he fell and broke his hip.  He moved into The Reserve at Katy in 2017 and was a favorite resident to many there.

Robert passed from this life on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at his residence in Katy, TX. He is predeceased by his wife Martha and son Robert Henry Cain, Jr. and 9 siblings.

He is survived by his children: Barbara Darlene and husband Mylon Osburn of Fountain Valley, California; Curtis Keith Cain and wife Suzanne of Montgomery, Texas; Patricia Kathleen and husband Mark Ely of Sacramento, California; Robert Mark Cain and wife Judy of Georgetown, Texas; 10 grandchildren: Shannon Cain of Jarrell, Texas; Jennifer and husband Cory Plattner of Yukon, Oklahoma; Cary Kristine Cain of Jarrell, Texas; Cathleen Osburn of Yukon, Oklahoma; Kelsey and wife Emilie Haskell of Seattle, Washington; Corinne Haskell of Sacramento, California; Devlin Ely of Sacramento, California; Reagan Cain of Houston, Texas; Cullen Ely of Sacramento, California; Mason Cain of Cedar Park, Texas; 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and many nieces, nephews.
