Robert Lee
Albers
June 17, 1945 – February 22, 2024
Robert Lee Albers entered the church triumphant peacefully on February 22, 2024, at Georgetown Living Memory Care with family by his side.
Bob was born June 17, 1945, in Aplington, Iowa, the third child of Fritz Albers and Alice (Franken) Albers. He was raised on a dairy farm in Wellsburg, Iowa. His whole family was hard-working, God-fearing people attending church every Sunday.
He graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1963 and worked at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown, Iowa. In 1965 he met his wife of 58 years Jeanine Stansberry. They got married in October 1965 and Bob enlisted in the Air Force. They were stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama for 2 years. Bob was sent to South Korea for 13 months and Jeanine went back to Marshalltown and worked at a local bank. When Bob returned from South Korea, he was given an honorable discharge and was able to go back to work at Fisher Controls. On January 3, 1970, they welcomed their first daughter Sara Jean Albers and on October 7, 1973, they welcomed their second daughter Amy Jo Albers. They made their home in Marshalltown, Iowa until 1984 when Fisher Controls moved them to Georgetown, Texas. Bob worked at Fisher for 49 years. He retired in 2013.
He had many hobbies but loved woodworking and working on his old 1971 Chevy pickup and his 1967 Buick. Bob made numerous beautiful pieces of furniture for family and friends. He was our Mr. Fixit – there was nothing he could not build or fix and he was always positive he could do it with the right tool. He loved living out in the country and sitting on the swing on the front porch of the house he helped build waving to neighbors as they drove by. Bob and Jeanine gardened, had flowers, and landscaping that he always made sure was weed-free.
He was loved by all and always willing to help at the church property. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Georgetown, Texas. He also helped with the Logos youth group as treasurer and helped with the kids' activities. He loved going to his grandsons, Cade and Seth, ball games and cheering them on to victory as well as granddaughters Kenley and Ashely's volleyball games on TV. He loved his family very much and was very proud of every one of them. He is truly missed and loved.
Special thank you to all Georgetown Living directors and nursing staff who loved and took care of Bob and a special thank you to Tranquility Hospice caregivers.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and his sister. He is survived by his wife Jeanine, daughters Sara Ramadan (Shawn) of Carrollton, Texas, and Amy Hunt (Greg) of Georgetown, Texas. Grandsons Cade Basey (Shelby), great-granddaughter Dixie of Jarrell, Texas, and Seth Basey of Florence, Texas. Granddaughters Kenley Hunt and Ashley Hunt of Georgetown, Texas.
