Obituary

Robbie Nelle Cook, 92, of Georgetown, formerly of Ennis, Texas, died Monday, September 16, 2024. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Wellspring United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Smith officiating.

Robbie was born on August 22, 1932, in Caddo Mills, Texas, to Herman Lowell and Ruth Williams Goodwin. She graduated from Caddo Mills High School where she was a cheerleader and played basketball. She worked in Dallas for many years until she married Raymond Wendell Cook on April 10, 1954, after he discharged from the United States Air Force. They lived in College Station while he attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University. While in College Station she worked in the payroll department of Texas A&M. Ultimately, they moved to Ennis, Texas, where they raised their children and lived until 2001. They were married 49 years. Robbie worked for many years in the retail clothing business, especially enjoying her years of work in children's clothing.

Robbie is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents; one brother, Marvin Goodwin; and one sister, Helen Goodwin Fletcher; one grandson-in-law, Jeffrey Braden; and her dear friend, Connie Hobbs.

She is survived by her daughter, Leah Elizabeth Cook Smith and husband, Jeffrey Smith, of Georgetown and her son, Kenneth Lowell Cook of College Station. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Philip Smith and wife, Magen, of Georgetown; Layne Braden Purdy and husband, Matthew, of Schertz; and Kyle Cook of Bryan. She has five great-grandchildren, Mason Smith, Piper Smith, Mackenzie Braden, Jeffrey Braden, Jr., and Calvin Purdy. Additionally, she is survived by Alba Cook of Bryan, and her best friend, Cynthia Gradney, of Leander.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wesleyan Assisted Living, Wellspring United Methodist Church, Suncrest Hospice or a charity of your choice. The family is forever grateful for the staff of Wesleyan Assisted Living and Suncrest Hospice.
