Richard Woods Lauder, Jr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on March 3, 2024, surrounded by his family after bravely battling cancer. Born on July 3, 1951, in Multnomah County, Oregon, he was the son of Thelma Aileen Barton and Richard Woods Lauder. He is survived by his wife, Debra, and four daughters, Lindsey Lauder, Amanda Corpuz (Randy), Katy Lam (Huy), and Kevyn Packer (Tyler), along with 14 grandchildren.
Rick attended boarding school at St. Michaels University School in Victoria, British Columbia. He loved to say he majored in rugby, cricket, and basketball. Following graduation, he embarked on a journey to traverse across the United States, fueled by a motorcycle gifted by his father and a desire for adventure. Eventually ending up in Houston and Austin, he worked in the trucking and automotive industries for decades.
Once in Texas, he quickly rooted in the quiet town of Liberty Hill, TX, as he acquired his land, and built his first home where his family continued to reside for over 40 years. The legacy he built through maintaining his serene property was never for just him but for his devotion to future generations. Family was truly everything to him.
A man of simple pleasures, Rick cherished the small things in life. He devoted his time to his daughters, coaching, and cheering them on as they played multiple sports. Once their competitive journey ended, he continued volunteering in the community coaching softball and basketball. His selflessness knew no bounds, finding fulfillment in supporting young women in sports knowing the lessons that sports can bring to their lives.
His final giving moment did not end with his last breath. Rick donated his brain to cancer research, hoping to contribute to scientific advancements and extend the lives of others. His spirit of giving lives on through his legacy, bringing comfort to his wife, Debra, and their family. Throughout his life, he gave it his all in each battle he faced, embodying resilience, determination, and unwavering courage.
A celebration of Rick's life will be held on March 30th, 2024, at 10 am at the San Gabriel Oaks Neighborhood Park - 1000 Red Oak Drive, Liberty Hill, TX. The family suggests that any memorial contributions in honor of Rick Lauder, go to the Marble Falls Booster Club – Softball, through Venmo @RickLauderMemorial or mailed to 100 Post Oak, Liberty Hill, TX 78642.
