Obituary

Richard "Rick" Franklin Denham Jr., 76, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, in Round Rock, Texas. Born on November 4, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio, Rick was the beloved husband of Penny Denham for 52 wonderful years. Together, they created a life rich with love, laughter, and countless shared adventures. He was the devoted father of Julie Ragland (husband Adam), Jack Denham, and Christy Rashman (husband Tom), and the doting "Pa" to three grandchildren: Warren (6), Kate (4), and Oliver (2). Rick is also survived by his sister Leigh Bolton (husband Geoff) and was the son of the late Richard and Louise Denham.

Rick was magnetic-a man who lit up every room he entered. He was the one everyone gravitated toward, the best dinner companion, a brilliant storyteller, a wise advisor, and a deeply compassionate listener. His optimism was infectious, and his zest for life inspired everyone who knew him.

Rick's love for Penny was fierce and enduring. The two at 19 and 20, fell in love, and built a lifetime of memories together, from skiing the hills of Ohio and the Rockies to sailing and boating on Lake Erie with dear friends. They shared a love for the great outdoors, which brought them - and their entire family - closer through hobbies like snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, jet skiing, and golfing. They also shared a lifelong love for the Ohio State Buckeyes - Go Bucks Go!

Professionally, Rick was a natural leader, serving as Vice President of Sales for several companies throughout his career. He began his journey working for his future father-in-law at a food brokerage and climbed to great heights, earning the prestigious National Sales Leader award at Newell Brands, a global company with more than 25,000 employees.

Even as his body began to fail, Rick's spirit never wavered. He was a playful and loving grandfather who could make his grandkids laugh, even during the toughest days. He was always the first person you'd want to call to celebrate good news-fully present, eager to help, and quick to offer solutions.

Rick's family will host a celebration of life in 2025, with details to be shared at a later date. In the meantime, the family invites you to share your memories of Rick below, as they bring great comfort during this time.

Rick touched countless lives, and the world is brighter because he was in it.
