Richard was a proud Texan! Born in Midland to James Richard Maurice Crawley and Jennie Evelyn Crawley, he passed away peacefully on June 21 in Georgetown, Texas at age 82.

He moved to Baytown as a young boy and graduated from Robert E. Lee HS as a National Honor Society member and completed 2 years of courses at Lee College. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, softball, and bowling, and he was a skilled craftsman.

Richard married Nellie Covey and they had 2 children. He later married his life-long partner, Paula. Richard was extremely proud of his family and their accomplishments.

During his 37-year career with DuPont in quality control and contract administration, he was a mentor to many, challenged people to grow, and was lauded as the best boss ever. Richard and Paula retired to the Austin area in 1999 and spent their time traveling, playing golf, and doing home improvement projects for family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Paula; sister, Jean Anne Crawley; son Todd (Royette) Crawley; daughter Steffani (Steve Hoover); granddaughter, Ashley Crawley; grandson Austin (Nikki) Crawley; great-granddaughter Brooke Talbott; and nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by his father, step-father and mother.

A Celebration of Life will be held July 18, 2-4 pm at Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Dr, Georgetown, TX.

Richard was always grateful for the many family members who served during conflict and that all returned home safely. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a veterans support organization such as Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Veterans Community Project.
