Obituary

Richard Paul Becker, age 78, of Georgetown, Texas passed away on Friday, December 19, 2015, after a courageous battle with (AML) Leukemia. Richard was born on April 21, 1937 in Kreidersville, PA to parents, Stanley and Rose (Petko) Becker. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Mae (Meyers) Becker; and caring daughter, Mary Rose Becker, and his faithful dog companion, Cody.

After high school, he continued his education and earned a business degree at Bethlehem Business College. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Army in 1957 and served in the Philippines during peace time until 1959. He served as a Direction Finding Officer in the Army Security Agency. He remained in the U.S. Army Reserves until 1963. On January 20, 1962, Richard married the love of his life, Mary Mae Meyers in Hellertown, PA. Married for over 53 years, Richard and his wife, Mary, shared a special commitment of faith and love. Richard dedicated over 40 years to his career as an automotive technology executive. He retired as a Vice President of Sales for ADP. He was a devoted husband, father and a kind, caring, patient man to everyone he knew.

Richard was an active member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown, Texas and served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas for over 25 years. Richard was an avid outdoorsman, and loved to fish. He enjoyed spending time with friends, family and work colleagues. He loved watching the deer, observing Eagles, flying his American flag, traveling for pleasure and had a great love for Lionel trains.

Richard traveled around the world for work and pleasure and touched many lives in the states he resided, including Pennsylvania, Michigan and Texas. He was proud to be a soldier and veteran, and spent many years serving as a volunteer fireman in his local hometown. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Stanley Becker, brother, Stanley A. Becker, and son, David Richard Becker. Surviving family members include: Josephine Wieand (sister) of Center Valley, PA; Dorothy Hess (sister), Newport News, VA; and Kathleen Petrie (sister), Kutztown, PA. He leaves behind a legacy of many special nieces and nephews, who loved and cherished him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Richard Paul Becker to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, www.donate.lls.org . The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to our extended family and friends for all of their support and prayers during this difficult time.

A viewing will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas, 78633 between 6 – 8 pm, with a rosary starting at 7:00 pm on Monday, December 28th. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 29, at St. Helen Catholic Church, in Georgetown, Texas. A bereavement luncheon will be provided following the service. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 11463 State Highway 195, Killeen, Texas 76542.
