Raymond Elgin
Ross
September 12, 1966 – August 11, 2023
Raymond Elgin Ross was born to Frank and Shirley Ross on September 12, 1966. Although born in Orange, California, Raymond considered himself to be a native Texan. He was the youngest of five children. In 1983 with the birth of his beloved daughter Rachel, Raymond started his family in Sour Lake, Texas. At an age when most people were wondering what to do with their lives and where the next good time was to be held, he already knew he wanted to be the best father he could be and worked hard at various construction and carpentry jobs to provide the best life he could for his daughter. He was well liked and respected in the community and at church.
While Rachel was growing up, they were two peas in a pod and almost always together. When he would throw hay, she would ride to the pasture and hang out in the truck to keep daddy company. They could often be found fishing in the pond, working together on their house, and playing baseball games in the backyard. He loved 80's rock music, fast cars and shooting hoops.
Raymond moved to Georgetown in 2011 with his life partner Sunshine, and sons Talon and Brendon. He loved to watch Talon play football, and often his granddaughter Raina would travel with them to support the team and join in on the fun. He enjoyed talking strategy with Talon and called plays like every dad coach does. He taught his boys about working hard and what it means to be a man; especially the importance of doing things together – fun, work, chores and all. He found himself with a constant shadow and helper in Brendon, and the two were inseparable.
Raymond blessed us all with the incredible amount of love that he shared, and he is loved more than words can ever describe. He is and always will be irreplaceable and missed.
Raymond is survived by his brother Robert, sister Roberta, brother Roger, daughter Rachel, life partner Sunshine, sons Talon and Brendon, granddaughter Raina and many nieces and nephews.
