Raymond “Ray” Joseph Meyer passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026. He will be remembered with love by his family and friends, whose lives were made richer by having him in them.
Born on July 31, 1947, Ray made his home in Galveston, Texas, where he built a life filled with family, memories, and lasting connections to the island he called home.
Ray was known for his warmth, humor, and generous heart. He had a way of making people feel welcome, and the memories he created with family and friends will be cherished for generations.
After many years in Galveston, Ray and his family moved to Austin, Texas, in 2008, beginning a new chapter while keeping their special ties to Galveston and the memories made there.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Karen Meyer; his daughters, Kacey Selken and Lindsey Griffin; his sons-in-law, Eric Selken and Brian Griffin; his grandchildren, Evan Selken, Harper Selken, Hudson Griffin, and Everly Griffin; his siblings, Frank Meyer (Laurie, sister-in-law) and Julie Jones (Don, brother-in-law); and his mother-in-law, Jeanette Hayes. He will also be remembered by extended family members and dear friends who were fortunate to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sara Meyer and Joe Meyer.
Though Ray will be deeply missed, his memory will live on through the love he shared, the family he cherished, and the countless memories that will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew him. His life will continue to be celebrated through the stories shared and the love carried forward by his family.
