Don met Sandra in a math class at SOSU.  They  married February 24, 1962. He started working as a delivery boy in a printing shop and worked his way up to Sales Manager.

Don became a flight navigator for the Oklahoma Air National Guard. His 10 years of military service included active duty in the Air Force for cargo flights in the Vietnam Theater. Don achieved the rank of Captain during this time. Don and Sandra started a family during this time. He continued working   in the printing industry and went on to manage various companies in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Alabama, and Texas. They then moved back to Oklahoma where he worked construction with family. When Rebecca, Robert and Rathan were in college Don and Sandra started going to Oklahoma State University for education degrees. He majored in math and Sandra in science.

After graduation they moved to Many Farms, Arizona on the Navajo Reservation where he worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs  starting as a high school math teacher. Don did so much more than just teach math. He assisted with transitioning students to the boarding school. He led yearbook club. He was essential in updating computers and internet access as well as starting up the video-based nursing program. Don and Sandra opened their home and hearts to all there. He cared for the students and teachers, mentoring both. Don loved to   garden, barbecue, make cheese, and made a great home brew beer and mead. Don, Tom and Zamudio were always working on some agricultural project or other   boondoggle. They developed many close friends at that time including    the Vurnises and the Cranes.

After retiring from Many Farms, they moved to Georgetown Texas to be close to their kids and grandkids. He gardened, fished, had chickens and ducks, started beekeeping with Elizabeth his granddaughter and mowed 5 acres. They loved  finishing their day watching sunsets from their rockers.
