Ray F. Thomas, Jr.

March 2, 1944 - September 27, 2026

Ray F. Thomas, Jr., age 82, of Georgetown, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Ray was born on March 2, 1944, in Georgetown, Texas, to Ray Thomas, Sr. and Dorthy Ann Thomas. In 1960, he met the love of his life, Marilyn, and the two were married in 1963. Together, they built a beautiful life, centered on faith, family, and enduring love for one another, celebrating 63 years of marriage this year. They raised three children, Matt, Missy, and Becky, who along with their spouses and families were among the greatest joys of Ray's life.

Ray was a biblical example of a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Above all else, he was a faithful servant of God. His relationship with the Lord was at the center of his life, and he never hesitated to share the love, grace, and hope he found in his Savior, Jesus Christ. Ray didn't simply speak about his faith, he lived it. It could be seen in the way he loved his family, the kindness he showed others, his generosity, and his willingness to serve those around him.

A hardworking and intelligent man with an entrepreneurial spirit, Ray was self-employed throughout much of his life. His love of the outdoors naturally led him into construction and landscaping (El Derado Construction & River Oaks Construction), where he spent many years working with his hands and managing construction crews while providing for his family. In the 1980s, his curiosity and love of learning sparked an interest in computers, eventually leading him to establish Georgetown Data Services, which he owned and operated into his 80s.

Outside of work, Ray found great joy in the things he loved most,: his family, the outdoors, hunting, sports, and, of course, his Texas A&M Aggies. Like his father, he was a devoted Aggie fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on, especially on the gridiron.

Some of his family's most treasured memories came from the many years Ray spent on the sidelines of his kids' sports teams. He loved coaching soccer and took tremendous pride in supporting each of his children (and the community) in the sports they loved, from soccer to basketball to football and baseball. Whether he was coaching from the field, cheering from the stands, or offering encouragement along the way, Ray was always one of their biggest and most devoted fans. That love and enthusiasm for supporting his family continued with his grandchildren, whose lives and accomplishments brought him immeasurable pride and joy.

Ray was strong, intelligent, hardworking, and deeply devoted to those he loved. He loved Marilyn faithfully and completely, and he loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with a strength that left no question about how proud he was of his family. He worked hard throughout his life to provide for them, but the greatest legacy he leaves behind can't be measured by what he built or accomplished. It is found in the family he loved, the faith he shared, the lives he touched, and the example he set.

His family finds peace in knowing that the faith Ray carried throughout his earthly life has now brought him home. Though he will be deeply missed, there is comfort in knowing he is in the presence of the Lord and the saints who have proceeded him into heaven.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn Thomas; son Matthew (Andrea) Thomas, daughters Melissa (LeeRoy) Johnson and Rebecca (Chad) Tyson, his grandchildren Emma (Micah) Upham and Jacob, Jane, Charlotte, and Nevie Thomas; Macy, Maxwell, Quinton and Vivee Johnson; Jagger and Jaxson Tyson; great-grandchildren Elijah Ochoa and Malachikai Johnson, and sisters Cynthia (Larry) Berkman and Debbie (Anthony) Klein.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Dorothy Thomas, Sr., daughter Sara Thomas, grandson Isaac Thomas, and sister Theresa Thomas.
