Raymond Kenneth Nelson of Georgetown, TX passed away December 23, 2024 after a short battle with cancer.

Ray was born June 10, 1943 in Lonoke, Arkansas.  Ray served with the US Navy as Corpsman in the Vietnam War.

Ray met Dorothy in the summer of 1985. They were married November 28, 1987. They moved to Georgetown, TX.  Ray was a used car manager at Draeger Ford and later opened up his own used car lot. His next term of employment was Williamson County Jail where he was later hired as Director and Veteran Service Officer, Williamson County Veteran Services, where he retired in September 2009. Ray was a member of V.F.W. Post 8587, Masonic Lodge (San Gabriel) and American Legion in Jarrell, TX.

After retirement Ray & Dorothy loved to travel in their motor home from the east coast to the west coast of the US and Nova Scotia in the Canadian Province to whale watching of western Canada on the Pacific Ocean.

Ray is survived by his wife Dorothy Nelson; children, Gary Kovar, wife Johnnie; Cynthia Kirkes, husband Kraig; Mary Kay Wright, and Tommy Kovar, wife Jodi. Grandchildren, Justin Davies, wife Kim; Branden Davies, fiancée Gloria; Kaz Wright, wife Raven; Astin Wright, Tiffany Cross, Taylor Kovar, Hunter Williams, Clayton Kovar, wife Kaci; Kelsey Thompson, husband Marshall; Meagan Laas, and Mark Laas. Great grandchildren, Ava & Vera Davies, Luke Laas, Tenleigh Thompson, Whitley & Stetson Kovar and Benjamin Thompson.  Sister-in-law, Ruth Nelson; nephews, Randy Nelson, wife Lorna; John Nelson, wife Peggy; niece, Vicki Nelson, and son Matthew.

He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas John Nelson; mother, Sylvia Corbin Nelson, and brother TJ Nelson.
